iPhone Location Services are used in its Mobile Devices by many third party applications. These applications may post your location to that application or a linked Social Media Profile. To disable on the iPhone/iPad:

Settings -->, Location Services --> On/Off

You should review each third party application and determine if you need to let it use your geolocation. The key Apps are Facebook, Apple Find Friends, Foursquare, Google+ and Pinterest. When you try and use a third party Application that needs its Location turned Off, you will be prompted to turn it ON.
